Reminder for the Over 55 no contact rules…
Standard “non-contact” rules apply, emphasizing sportsmanship and preventing physical contact. This means no physical contact is allowed, and penalties may be called for intent for physical contact.
If you are over 55 you DO NOT have to sign up for this non contact bracket. Some of you lucky ones have your original hips and knees and we encourage you to play with our traditional Over 40 format. This is for the athlete that may have put some orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists kids through college.
Here’s a breakdown of the rules for non-contact bracket:
No Physical Contact:The primary rule is that no physical contact between players is allowed for the Over 55 no contact bracket.
Players cannot intentionally make bodily contact with an opponent.
NO shouldering.
NO tackling
Just don’t touch anyone at all, you’re old and probably have had at least one surgery. Stop it.
Emphasis on Sportsmanship: Focus is on fair play, respect for opponents and officials, and avoiding any actions that could be perceived as aggressive or dangerous.
Penalties for Intent to Injure: Referees have the discretion to call penalties for actions that are deemed to be intentional to injure, regardless of whether physical contact occurred.
What are the team requirements?
- Teams to be 13 a side for hurling and 13 a side for Football.
- Teams to be made up of players born before Jan 1, 1972.
- Teams are anyone who signed up and we do not separate based on Gender
- You cannot sign up for Football and Hurling. You have to choose. You are too old to do both. Channel your inner Meryl Streep in Sophies Choice.
- No wheelchairs on the field
- No player shall say that they could play more games at end of day. Our goal is to not make Kim cry this year cause this is a lot of work
